This release provides updates for Gen8 server platforms and adds support for vSphere 6.0 U3.

Reboot Requirement:
Reboot may be required after installation for updates to take effect and hardware stability to be maintained.

Installation:

Idtronic port devices driver. Check in the Windows Device Manager if the driver for the USB-Port is installed. If it is not installed, then click on this driverless port and select update driver-software, please use the driver from the folder “04USB-Drivers”. After successful installation, start the software at menu item “iDTRONIC - Reader Demo Tool” in programs.

There are two methods for using the Service Pack for ProLiant to update your ProLiant servers:
- Online mode - Runs on a Windows or Linux hosted operating system
- Offline mode - Server is booted to the ISO

• Automatic mode - Firmware components will be updated without interaction

• Interactive mode - Follow the onscreen steps to update firmware components

  To initiate deployment in Interactive mode:

  Run the launch_hpsum.bat (Windows) or launch_hpsum.sh (Linux) script, which is found in the root of the ISO.

  Automatic mode will by default run firmware update without any user interaction after sitting 30 seconds at the menu screen when an SPP ISO image is used to boot the server.
  Booting the SPP from iLO virtual media is only supported in Automatic Firmware Update mode. Users attempting this in any other mode may experience hangs from connection timeouts, difficulties updating iLO firmware, and mouse syncing issues.
  Note: If you install a software from the SPP and then install a Microsoft Windows operating system Service Pack or other operating system updates, HP recommends reinstalling the software from the SPP.

Optional - Users should update to this version if their system is affected by one of the documented fixes or if there is a desire to utilize any of the enhanced functionality provided by this version.

Important:

In order to reduce the frequency at which servers need to be updated, HPE is changing the packaging and delivery of the SPP.

Going forward, two types of SPPs will be released:

• A single “Production SPP” that contains the firmware and drivers for the all of the production server generations, and

• Multiple server generation specific “Post-Production SPPs” that contain the firmware and drivers for a specific post-production server generation (e.g. Gen8 only Post-Production SPP that contains the firmware and drivers for all of Gen8 server models).

When a server generation transitions to “Post-Production,” the firmware and drivers for that server generation are frozen, packaged together on a “Post-Production SPP,” and released. The “Post-Production SPP” is supported through the EOS (end of support) for that server generation, and all future firmware and driver updates are released as hot fixes. This eliminates the need for yearly updates.

The 2017.04.0 SPP is the last production SPP to contain components for the G7 and Gen8 server platforms. For additional information, please refer to Reducing Server Updates.

The USB Key Utility can be used to copy your Service Pack for ProLiant ISO onto your portable USB key storage device. Please note that the utility is now 64-bit only. If the 32-bit application is needed, please use version 1.8.0.0. Earlier versions of the USB Key Utility will not work on an ISO image greater than 4GB.

With the demand of low power applications, such as health monitoring, Bluetooth connection, IoT, wearables and mobile Internet devices, system engineers will need memory with reduced supply voltage to simplify their design. Improvements and fixes. This update includes a fix for an incorrect device driver (“Microsoft – WPD – 2/22/2016 12:00:00 AM - 5.2.5326.4762”) that was released by a third-party on March 8, 2017 that affected a small group of users with USB connected phones or other media devices that rely on Media Transfer Protocol (MTP). If your USB device does not work the most likely problem is missing or outdated drivers. When you plug the device into your USB, Windows will look for the associated driver, if it cannot find this driver then you will be prompted to insert the driver disc that came with your device. Motorola Device Manager contains USB drivers and software to connect your Motorola phone or tablet to your computer using a USB cable. The MXIC USB Device Driver may also support the establishment of a Remote NDIS which is commonly found in network devices that are seen in Plug and Play environments. Addressed VMware firmware installation issues with the following components:

• HPE Broadcom NX1 Online Firmware Upgrade Utility for VMware
• Online Firmware Upgrade Utility (ESXi 6.0) for HPE Mellanox VPI (Ethernet and Infiniband mode) devices on VMware ESXi
• Online Firmware Upgrade Utility (ESXi 6.0) for HPE Mellanox Ethernet only adapters
  No functional changes have been made to these firmware components; the updates are only needed for new installations.

Addressed VMware driver installation issues with the following component: HPE ProLiant Smart Array Controller Driver for VMware vSphere 6.0 (Driver Component) Version 2017.09.25 (B)

Included updated version of Fibre Channel (FC) and Fibre Channel over Ethernet (FCoE) driver to correct an occasional display of a purple diagnostic screen on VMware ESXi 5.5 and 6.0. This can happen when the driver receives a SCSI Check Condition response and perceives the SCSI Sense Data is either zero length or is invalid in the FCP_RSP field.
